New world wide domains - Expected registration from 2001 Yes - due to the extensive growth in Domain Name demand and regulatory interventions, new Global Top Level Domains (gTLD) will become available from appropriately approved registrar services - watch this space for updates. ICANN - the governing body for Domain Names announced the new domains November 2000 - to be available sometime in 2001. They are expected to be perceived as equivalent to .com, .net and so on.
